Businesses succeed when they are capable and willing to join together to reinforce the economic benefits of a thriving business environment. The Manteno Chamber of Commerce provides the outlet for the joint effort of retaining and encouraging businesses to establish themselves in our community.
The Manteno Chamber recently celebrated our 50th anniversary of advocating and assisting our local businesses. I’m proud to announce that our chamber has never been stronger. Our community business leaders are ideally positioned to work together to continue to develop a successful business environment for all of our members.
The Manteno Chamber is engaged in a multi-faceted approach to offer real benefits to our members and help to strengthen our position by increasing our membership. One of the main questions we get from our members is, “what’s the benefit?” I want to provide you with a few details of our plan to better answer that question in terms that business owners realize in real terms.
We have developed multiple committees that are working hard to develop opportunities and assistance for Chamber members. The Membership Development Committee, which I serve, is geared to this mission. We are working to promote commerce in the community with broadcast advertisements, assistance programs, and promotion of the business community as a whole.
The Membership Development Committee has recently launched a public awareness campaign to capitalize on tourist traffic through our community and encourage local commerce. We have partnered with the KCCVB in posting a billboard on Interstate 57 at mile marker 334 encouraging passers-by to choose Manteno as a stopping point. Additionally, we continue to utilize a co-op radio-advertising program for our member businesses, and we have partnered with the Village of Manteno with promotional commercials in our area in the south suburbs. Among other things, have prepared a map and welcome packet for individuals and businesses interested in our community. This committee is working hard on reviewing and implementing other programs that will be beneficial to our members and will be announce shortly.
In addition to our Membership Development Committee, the Chamber has existing committees that plan various Chamber and joint Village functions for the Farmer’s Market, Movies in the Park, our annual Golf Outing, Music in Manteno, and of course Oktoberfest among others. I am proud of how hard our board and our members work to make the Manteno Chamber of Commerce a success, and I will be working hard to make sure all our business leaders feel the benefits of membership.
I encourage our entire community to join me in living out our new catch phrase “conveniently charming”. Manteno is ideally positioned for growth and opportunity and I am looking forward to assisting in the success of all of our current and potential new businesses.
